The play is based on the life of Nottage’s great-grandmother and is one of her most widely
produced plays and is listed among the 40 best plays ever written.

Lynn Nottage’s Intimate Apparel explores the desire for both independence and connection, the
insidious effects of racism and classism, the social oppression of women, and the bravery, hard
work, friendship, and love, of people who have been forgotten by history.
The time is 1905, the place New York City, where Esther, a black seamstress, lives in a boarding
house for women and sews intimate apparel for clients who range from wealthy white patrons to
black prostitutes. Her skills and discretion are much in demand, and she has managed to stuff a
good sum of money into her quilt over the years. Though leading a life that provides joy to many,
she remains lonely and longing for a husband and a future. In the end Esther will be forced to
face a future that she is truly unprepared for…

Valentine's Day Comedy at the Campbell Theater in downtown Martinez
CoCoComedy.com is teaming up with The Martinez Campbell Theater to give you a fun and easy date night for Valentine's Day.
Showtime 8:00, (doors open at 7:00) giving you plenty of time for dinner before the show.
We're having a little fun with our lineup for this show. Since our April show will be an all ladies show, we've decided to bring in a couple of our favorite "old guys".
Our headliner for the evening is Samson Koletkar.

Samson Koletkar, a.k.a. Mahatma Moses, is the world's only Indian Jewish Stand-Up Comedian! Samson's comedy is a unique blend of his Indian background, Jewish roots, and American life. His clean comedy has been described as cerebral, witty, & refreshing, and he has entertained audiences across USA, Canada, & India. He has been featured on NPR, NBC, CBS, NDTV, The Times of India, Indian Express, Ha'aretz, Asian Jewish Life, and more.
Samson is the headliner on Mahatma Moses Comedy Tour and You're Funny But You Don't Look Jewish Tour. He has also been a featured performer on other comedy tours, including the Funatical Comedy Tour, Make Chai Not War, Pundits with Punchlines, and Sultans of Satire.
He was a Finalist in the Rooster T Feather's comedy Competitio, Winner of the Asian American Theater Company Comedy Competition. Semi-finalist in the 36th Annual Seattle International Comedy Competition, and quarter-finalist in the 39th Annual San Francisco Comedy Competition, Co-founder of DESI COMEDY FEST, the biggest South Asian Comedy Festival in America.
Our feature act for the evening is Benton Harshaw.
Benton is a Sacramento-based comedian who has been performing since he was seventeen. His comedy has been featured on Sirius XM. In 2023, he won the Rooster T. Feathers Comedy Competition. He appears all over California in clubs, casinos, and, once, a woman’s 90th birthday party. She heckled a lot.
Our opening act for the evening is Ramon Ware, a funny up-and-coming comic with a fun, fresh act.

“The Island of Beyond” is a new play adapted from the young adult novel by Elizabeth Atkinson. The production consists of a staged reading directed by Michael McGarty followed by an audience talkback session to assist the author in further development of the piece.
The story follows eleven-year-old Martin who can hardly imagine a worse summer. His dad is sending him to his great-aunt Lenore, who lives on a tiny island called Beyond. Martin’s dad wants him to like “normal” boy things—playing sports and exploring the outdoors instead of video games. Martin’s afraid he’ll never be the son his dad wants him to be and being stuck in the middle of nowhere won’t change that.
But nothing about Beyond is what Martin expects. Not peculiar Aunt Lenore, not mysterious Uncle Ned—and certainly not the strange local boy named Solo who unexpectedly befriends Martin. Solo can canoe and climb trees and survive on his own in the wilderness, and Martin’s drawn to him in a way he doesn’t quite understand. But he’s not sure he can trust Solo. In fact, can he trust anything about this strange island, where everyone seems to be keeping secrets?

Tom Goss is an LA-based singer-songwriter known for his expertly crafted songs about the joys and struggles of modern love.
A prolific writer and performer, Tom has released seven albums, made dozens of music videos, and played thousands of shows across the US, Canada, and Europe to a growing group of dedicated fans. He has been compared to Ed Sheeran, Mat Kearney, David Gray, and Wye Oak -- but with a distinct perspective shaped by his unusual history as a college wrestler turned Catholic seminarian turned gay musician.
Tom's songs have been heard on ABC, HBO, Disney+, Here TV, and Univision, and his inventive music videos have been viewed more than 20 million times. He enjoys a particularly strong following in the LGBT community -- singing about disillusionment, desire, and hope in an intimate yet relatable way — and has shared a stage with performers as diverse as Andy Grammer, Martha Wash, Taylor Dayne, Adrianne Gonzalez, Matt Alber, and Catie Curtis.
Tom was raised in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and went to college in Missouri on a wrestling scholarship with plans to become a schoolteacher. A year of student teaching changed his mind, but he still wanted to make a difference in the world -- so he decided, to the surprise of family and friends, to become a Catholic priest, moving to Washington DC to enter seminary. Frustrated by a series of #metoo experiences, Tom found his voice in songwriting and performing. After a decade in DC, he moved to Los Angeles in 2015.
