26.2 TO LIFE
26.2 TO LIFE explores the transformative power of San Quentin’s 1000 Mile Club, in which incarcerated runners are coached by volunteer elite marathoners, throughout the year for an annual marathon that takes place inside the prison.
With the 0% recidivism rate among released members, the film shows how powerful community engagement can be, not just for the incarcerated runners, but also for volunteers who gain a complex understanding of who ends up in prison and why and what true rehabilitation looks like.
Documentary run time: 91 minutes.
After the movie, stay for a Q&A from formerly incarcerated folks. You’ll also have a chance to learn about the Contra Costa Public Defender Post-Conviction Unit, the successes and challenges thus far, and opportunities for post-conviction relief. If you cannot attend the event, but would like to contribute to the Reentry Fund, you can venmo @CocoPCU with a donation. In the description please note “reentry.”
All proceeds go towards supporting reentry needs of the formerly incarcerated.
Thank you for your generous support.
Tickets start at $25 — Sponsored by Onstage Repertory Theater
